Barbaric

This is a medieval fantasy digital portrait painting of a mysterious warrior covered in red and blue war paint.

I see her as tougher, and more rugged than my other portraits. A barbaric viking born from harsh climates in distant lands.

There is a coldness in her eyes, and in her heart. A lack of compassion and empathy. A darkness screaming silently from inside her soul, scratching at the doors of her sanity, gazing up from the pits of her frigid unfeeling.

Yet, she has a strong sense of right and wrong. A stubborn moral code.

She would die for honor.

She has killed for justice.

She lives for battle.

Tribal

This is a digital portrait painting of a tribal themed barbarian woman that I created with Corel Painter.

I see her as someone who is ruthless, and savagely fierce. A silent warrior born from the jungle. A killer and a hero. A savior and a destroyer.

She looks forward in an intimidating gaze, ready to conquer whatever challenges come her way. Her eyes are ready and fearless, her soul untamed and free.

She lives by her own laws.

She will never accept defeat.

Found Her Freedom

Digital painting by Justin Gedak

This is a surreal fantasy portrait of a barbarian woman who has been through a lot. Someone who has faced horrors and nightmares, and who has seen and endured the worst.

But she has made it through, and found peace at last. After so many years in the dark, she has found her freedom.

As she lay on the ground, gazing up at the clear, open sky, she daydreams of her future. She imagines all of the beautiful experiences awaiting her.

She is happy, hopeful, and feeling truly alive.

She is finally free.

Vampire

Digital painting of a vampire by Justin Gedak

This is a moody portrait of a vampire that I created with Corel Painter, and a Wacom tablet.

This is my favorite painting yet. I'm really proud of it.

I see this character as a mysterious loner. A quite beauty brooding in the distant shadows.

She is strong, cunning, and fierce.

Patient, and wise.

She knows what she wants, and she does not feel guilt for going for her desires.

She is the Vampire.

Mysterious Dark Haired Mermaid

Mermaid painting by Justin Gedak

This was created using a combination of photo manipulation and digital painting with Corel Painter and Photoshop from a photo I recently took of my wife.

I wanted the emphasis on her face and messy wet hair, so I made the background and rest of her body more abstracted, with looser brushstrokes.

I've been loving working in this new digital style of muted colors. It's been feeling more and more as if I've finally been finding my "voice" as an artist.

Digital Painting of a Mysterious Fairy

Digital painting of a fairy by Justin Gedak

"Fairy" is a surreal portrait of a beautiful and mysterious fairy in a dark, abstract forest. It was created with a combination of digital painting and photo manipulation using Corel Painter, Adobe Photoshop, and a Wacom tablet.

I see her as someone who has underdone some sort of turmoil. An unbearable experience which has scared her soul, and disfigured her heart.

She will never be the same. She will never feel the same. She will never love the same.

Yet she is stronger for it. The internal agony has deepened her core existence. Has made her wiser. Has humbled her. Has broadened her reality on the pleasures and pains of life.

She will endure and prosper at the expense of heartache.

She knows now what it is like to lose and to fail.

She understands that going forward she must cherish, and not take for granted the good things that come her way.

Because at any moment, they can be gone forever.
